Areas of freezing fog can't be ruled out in our southern communities this morning which could make for slick spots on roads and overpasses. A Freezing Fog Advisory remains in effect for Monroe County until 8AM.

Mostly cloudy and mild on this Monday, although I won't rule out a few peeks of sunshine early this afternoon. Highs today will be about ten degrees above average in the low 40s. silicon steel

Dry with temperatures trending milder through Wednesday and an even bigger warm-up by the end of the week. We are looking at 50s on Thursday and Friday with rain chances increasing late Thursday. There is a better chance for widespread rain on Friday afternoon.

Nationally, a strong Pacific storm system will bring flooding rains, heavy snow, strong winds and high surf to California. High elevation snow may produce whiteout conditions and dangerous, near impossible travel conditions for the Sierra Nevada and Rockies. Well above average temperatures continue for the Plains and Upper Midwest.

January 2024 was the wettest January on record in Metro Detroit (as measured at Metro Airport in Romulus). We received 5.25 inches of precipitation, including rain and the liquid-equivalent of snow. If you're hoping for your yard or field to dry out, it looks like February may be milder and drier than normal in Southeast Michigan.
