Wrong way driver dies after head on collision with tractor trailer

BRANFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - A 48-year-old woman has died after a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer on I-95.

Police say the tractor-trailer was traveling southbound in the center lane of three.

A Jeep, driven by 48-year-old Satoya Tenise Mccullers-Mays of Arizona, was traveling the wrong way, going northbound in the southbound lane.

Mccullers-Mays veered into the center lane and hit the tractor-trailer head-on.

She was ejected from the Jeep, which caught fire.

Mccullers-Mays was pronounced dead on scene, according to state police.

The driver of the tractor-trailer suffered minor non-life-threatening injuries. He was evaluated by EMS and not transported to the hospital.

The collision resulted in I-95 being closed for approximately six hours in the area of Exit 53 and 52, state police said.
